HIV / AIDS Empowerment Sessions for Companies:

We offer an hour and a half presentation that touches on all aspects of HIV & Aids including the explanation of HIV & AIDS, ways of transmission, testing and counselling, STI’s, Anti-retrovirals, etc. We allow time for a question and answer session.

We also offer a service of voluntary testing and counselling, as explained hereafter.

Voluntary Testing and Counselling

Methods of Testing

1. Unlinked and anonymous:

Can be undertaken by the national, provincial or local health authority or an agency authorised by any of these bodies, without informed consent, provided that the HIV testing of epidemiological purposes is carried out in accordance with national, legal and ethical provisions regarding such testing.

2. Permissible Testing:

An employer may provide testing to an employee who has requested a test in the following circumstances:

  • as part of a health care serviced provided in the workplace.
  • In the event of an occupational accident caring a risk of exposure to blood or other bodily fluids.
  • For the purposes of applying for compensation following an occupational accident involving a risk of exposure to blood or other bodily fluids.

Furthermore, such testing may take place only within the following defined conditions:

  • At the initiative of an employee
  • Within a health care worker and employee-patient relationship.
  • With informed consent and pre and post-test counselling.
  • With strict procedures relating to confidentiality of an employee’s HIV status.

The number of positive and negative reactions will be noted and a report will be drawn up for management.

This method of testing will take longer as a system to ensure privacy and protection from discrimination for workers will need to be put in place. Workers will know what their status is and can therefore take appropriate measures to ensure a longer, healthier life and reduce the spread of the virus.

The employer can now take positive action and support workers with HIV/AIDS. This will hopefully reduce the financial impact on the company of dealing with a large quantity of sick days and workers dying.

We also offer services specifically designed for Schools. Please select your area of interest: Select Schools
